Wind Wind Blow me Away

It is so windy outside right now, I'm afraid that it's going to blow over my newly planted herb garden. I have to admit, my little picture of a snap pea, wasn't really my first one. We are just getting our garden in now. It's really hard for me to believe, that on Monday, we had 3 inches of snow, and today it was in the low 90's. Now the wind is blowing for all it is worth.

So, I know I've mentioned "her" off and on, this is nothing new. But, we agreed this year to work on this garden together. It's going to be interesting to say the least. She lives in an apartment in town and has no room to garden, I have an acre I live in, with a garden completely fenced off from the deer. So we agreed to do an organic garden together, and today we started working on it.

We got much of it cleaned out this week, but today we officially started. I pulled all the rocks out of my herb garden, cleaned out all the weeds then redid the rocks. We dug out about 2 feet of grass from around the apple tree, and planted both English and French Lavender. We got the rest of the weeds pulled out of the vegetable beds, and found a nest of red ants (only 1 bite between us). We planted, cilantro, garlic chives, basil, dill, thyme, rosemary, spearmint and peppermint. We are going to till out the veggie beds on Tuesday evening, and plant the rest of the veggies then. We are also going to plant sunflowers along the fence, and hopefully the deer won't eat the.

We also cleared out the tomato beds, found my tomato cages and figured we are going to need about 4 more cages. We did starters of snap peas and zuch's with seeds that are now sitting in their little greenhouse thingy. It looks like I am the only one that even likes zuch's and I'm doing 2 or 3 plants.

I really did OK being around her today. I think I am finally getting over my feelings for her, hopefully anyway. I just have such a hard time with it, because she is the best friend I've made since I've been living here, and we truly have a ton in common. We like the same things, same foods. I wasn't all that surprised that she wanted to help me with the garden, but it was her idea. I know she is looking forward to a nice bounty of fresh organic veggies as am I.

So we'll see how I do, because we all know how stinking emotional I am. Today was a good day, and hopefully we will be able to work together and create this garden together. We are pretty much banning my husband, because of his love of pesticide. I'm of the mind, what is the point if you are going to spray poison all over stuff.

So anyway, there you have it. My first real garden in Montana is now officially started. This is cause for a celebration!
