Stacy and Clinton....I dare you!

What not to WEAR….What not to WEAR…

I watched this last night, as I do often, with veiled contempt on my face, knowing that I could possibly be turned in as one who would need this show.

So last night, I’m watching, and there is this Latina woman from Miami. She has big hair, blue jeans (alright, very very tight blue jeans) and t shirts, some showing a muffin top, some not. I thought, except for her jeans being too tight, and her shirts being a bit too short, she looked fine. Nothing to run to the fashion police over.

So Stacy and Clinton took her to NY.

I don’t know why this bugs me so much, but it does. Could it be, because I dress mostly in blue jeans and t-shirts?

Could it be I HATE the clothes they pick out?

On the second episode I watched last night, the woman asked them what was wrong with “tennis” shoes for running around on the weekend. They both looked at her and said, “you aren’t playing tennis are you”?

Maybe when you live in the big city, and don’t have kids, you might want to dress like Stacy, but honestly, I hate the way she dresses. I hate the prints she picks out. I hate the smirk on her face like all these poor helpless “low-class” people don’t know how to dress.

I don’t know if this is even true though, since I DID live in the BIG city for almost 10 years, and all I still wanted to wear was my jeans and funky t-shirts. Some of us gals would just rather wear jeans and t-shirts.

Really Stacy, it’s true. You are not the fashionista you think you are!

Arrrgh. I love my sneakers. Who runs around Walmart in pointy toed “heals” so that their legs look longer? Not me, I’d be running after my toddler, and slip and fall on my face.

That would be a great look, wouldn’t it?? Middle age in the closet lesbian with a blue nose and heals, well maybe if they matched????

Thanks but no thanks…I’ll take my KEENS…my BIRKs…my hippie tshirts (sans muffin top), can’t let the muffin top show, not that I don’t have one, I do, but I don’t let it “show”..that is one thing I do agree with her about.

Then there is the cost of what they have these women buy.

Jeans for $160.00??? WTF??????

I can clothe my whole family for that $5000.00!!!

I’ve never spent that in my entire life, and I’m telling you right now, I never will. I like LEVI’s…..they cost $30.00. They never go out of style.

So Stacy and Clinton, you can keep your expensive fugly clothes and leave me to my Levi’s…dontch’ all come knock knock knockin on my door now!

  1. Oh, I'm so with you on this one! That show pisses me off. It wouldn't be so bad if the people they target were ASKING for fashion advice, instead it's so-called "loved ones" that turn them in. You're right, the prices of the clothes they pick out are outrageous. How about taking them to Target or JC Penney, giving them $5000 and letting them pick out more than 3 outfits? Or, how about this: take an entire family with little or no income and clothe them for the winter, parents and kids?

However, like you, I totally agree with Stacy on the muffin top issue! I have one too, but I NEVER let it show.

  2. Tell it Sister - I'm sitting here and my levi's and sweat coat right now. I live in sandels year round. I bought my first pair of 'real' shoes last month for a funeral. There's much more fun things to do with money.

  3. I am proudly a tight hip-hugging, low-rise jean wearer and have been told I look damn good in them, thank you very much. Coupled with a simply t-shirt from Old Navy and baby, you've nailed my look!!

Sorry--I have absolutely NO CLUE WHATSOEVER who Stacy and Clinton are...when I saw your blog title I thought, "Huh? What's she daring Hillary to do now?"

    Smiles...be well, OC.
