You've found me, the mom of two small children. A few years ago, I figured out, this late in life, that I am Queer. I am looking to the future with hope and promise. Soon to be divorced, and living on my own with my kids. Life on my own terms at last!
I was thrilled, and voted Obama in our VA primaries. I think the two of them can create a very, very strong ticket and yes, just as you said OC, Obama's gracious words for Clinton were peaceful.
McCain scares the h*ll out of me.
Hillary would have been good as well--but I see her too much a part of the old "machine" to bring about the fresh change that I honestly believe, according to the research I have done, Obama can create. I dread that there will be an assassination attempt due to the continued tradition of ugly intolerance in this country (both against women and against African Americans), but that will not stop me from voting for whom I think is right.
One of the things that really bothered me, if you want to know the honest truth, was that if Hillary was elected, then we go 6terms with two families at the helm. I want some fresh blood in there. I adore Hillary, don't get me wrong, and I'd love love to see Barrak take her as a running mate.
I also love the idea of getting someone elected who is not male and white. I think for true change, we need some diversity. I also just hadn't felt that chill that I did last night, since Clinton was elected the first time. So, I agree with both you and Brad. I'm so happy, maybe we'll get this one...if not, we'd all better be debt free and ready to run to Canada...
I am looking forward to a democratic president in '09 -- Obama was not the person I had in mind, I wanted Hillary and still do. She has more experience and I worry Obama may end as affective as Carter was (nice man, not affective) because of his lack of experience.
I do hope he puts Hillary on his ticket, in my opinion that would be a really strong choice for change in this country.
The depth of the sexism in this country even among women deeply saddens me and so much of it was brought out in this election.
I'm with you, OC. This man moves me as no politician has ever moved me before...and I've been paying attention since Adlai Stevenson said, "We must do the right for the sake of right alone." The world seemed simpler then. I thought I knew what was right. But then Eisenhower won, and since then I've been alienated. Hillary is good, but she never moved me. Obama is a poet. He's a politician who speaks MY heart, MY dreams. I'm a woman, and I love women, but Hillary just never rang my bells. She never said anything I hadn't heard before. She put me to sleep. Barack rings all my bells. He gives me hope. I don't believe the crap about "he's not ready." He's plenty ready. He's already changed the way the world thinks. He's already put the poetry back into politics. And he won't be operating alone. He'll have all of us behind him, with him, wanting it to work.
I have to agree with Janet here. I would love to see a Obama-Hillary ticket. I think that is the surest way to get the Republicans out of the White House. I'm not really sure if Obama can beat McCanin otherwise.
I hope he picks Hill as his running mate. We've just got to get the whitehouse back.
ReplyDeleteYeah...me too. We have too, can't afford to hav McCain in there after Bush!
ReplyDeleteDITTO!

Be well, OC.
