On The Road

I drove to Bozeman today for the long awaited root canal.

I'm still waiting folks! Looks like living in MT has turned me into toothless Tilly.

Yes, that's right folks, I am going to have to have my tooth "extracted."

The dentist called it a "simple extraction."

Is there such a thing???

Seriously, I've spent a fortune to keep my teeth in one piece in my mouth. I have crappy nice looking teeth. I have many crowns...I have all my freaking fracking teeth, but apparently, not for very much longer.

He told me today, "you'll never miss it."

Well, I have news for you Dr. Dentist, Yes I will! Yes I will!

He said there was a tiny bit of drill bit broken off inside, and he also said the tooth was split inside the crown. He told me it was unsaveable.

Fuck!!! Fuck!!! I want to save my tooth.

He also cut this thing off my tounge, he said it was where I had repetedly bit it, and it had become a callas. The thing did bug me, but let me tell you what, a shot of novacaine, directly in the tounge....well lets just say, I think I'd rather watch the RNC again.

But all pain aside, the ugly thingy is gone now so I'm happy about that.

I really do like this dentist, I had one root canal done by him when I was knocked up with Little Miss, and it was the easiest root canal I've ever had, hands down, and I can say that, I've had many many root canals.

The thing is, I was not expecting "a simple extraction."

I was expecting a root canal, and to have my tooth!!!

Oh well, ces't la vie, it's been a nice ride old girl.

He wanted to do it (simple extraction) today, but since I had to drive 100 miles home alone, I declined. I'd rather do this, some afternoon, so I can go home right after and cry a toothless cry and say goodbye to Mabel the Molar.

And for your viewing pleasure, I took a video on the way. I got the idea from CJ's blog, when she took her drive to Boston.

What different lives we lead huh?

So with no further adieu, Welcome to Montana.

  1. Wow! You really do have snow.

Losing a tooth is a bummer. I've had two root canals and I'm afraid that they won't last forever.

  2. I had a very similar experience - now have a bridge where the tooth once was. It has worked out fine but I do remember that weird sadness of permanenly losing a tooth. And for months afterward I would have dreams that my teeth were all crumbling apart. That was frightening. Good luck with the extraction - mine didn't turn out to be so simple, but it wasn't so bad either.

Is it safe to be driving while taking video?

  3. My son and I love snowboarding and everyday he says "I hope it snows soon" which drives my wife nuts but makes me happy. Here in the Northeast we are enjoying a warm spell with temps in the 70's.

I don't think we will be hitting the slopes anytime soon :-)

  6. I echo Sandy's sentiments about your tooth.

I loved your video. What beautiful country in your neck of the woods. That sky is simply amazing. Who stole all your traffic lights?

  7. I just got back from a visit to the Flathead Valley, where I used to live. More mountains than you've got, but same beautiful big sky.
