Octumom Madness!

I have to say it.

I've been sitting here watching CNN for two days. I can't take it anymore.

This woman, she is sick, there is something wrong with her. But they are beating her to a pulp. I can't take it. Maybe it's the photo's of the babies, who look so very much like my own babies. Maybe it's me, thinking, "Ok, so she made a hugely poor choice, now what?" Because she is single, and not thinking clearly, the media seems to think they have the right, or the duty to persecute her.

There are worse things in this world than having babies. Personally, I hope Child Welfare gets involved, she can't take care of those babies by herself. One preemie, is horribly hard. Eight, by yourself???? No way. She needs help. She needs compassion. She doesn't need people getting on their soap box wagging their fingers saying...BAD..now you deserve to be destitute and your babies don't deserve the basic necessities because you are a royal fuck up. So fucking what??? Lots of parents are fuck ups, myself included.

Those precious 8 babies are here, as are their older siblings. Someone needs to show this woman some kindness and compassion and help her out. Yes, I would donate to her website. If there is one thing I do know, it's preemie babies. It's hard. She is coming down from the hormone place of giving birth.

We can bail out Wall street, but we can't help 8 preemie babes....I'll never understand it. Take some of my taxes to help pay for them. God knows I've used my share for my own kids.

How do you feel??? Take your feelings for the mom being crazy out of it, and really think about those babies. They are the ones that are truly being persecuted. Those poor little 2lb babies..they didn't do anything wrong, and we as a society have the duty and the obligation to help take care of them. It takes a village. Give me one of those babies, I can take care of it. I want to cry for them, for her, for her life that made her do this, and now she truly needs our compassion and love as a society and a mom. Are we human?

Peace,

OC

  1. I agree with you wholeheartedly. This blame game has gone on long enough with this mother. We can't go back in time and change it and who knows, there may be a good reason that ALL of those children were born that we can't possibly know of yet. Whatever the life paths of those kids will be, they deserve to have the best possible start in life. They're already starting out with the odds stacked against them, being born preemies and into the life situation this hapless mother has brought them into, but they don't deserve for the world to turn its back on them and abandon them because they have a silly and possibly mentally ill mother. In fact, they need our compassion even more now.

  2. Adoption is always an option. And I know children who have constant contact with their birth mother until age 18 when they can actually meet that mother. It can be a very healthy thing for all involved, and foster an understanding between the two parties that otherwise could be simply resentment.

    That's my two cents.

    Be well, OC.

  3. The incessant savaging of this poor, probably mentally unstable woman has sickened me. As you say so rightly, it's ok to bail out the banks, but not help her and her children? what kind of society are we living in ffs? Yes, we've all made bad choices and lets start showing some compassion pronto. fimg x

  4. Well, that's it, isn't it? The babies are born, they can't be un-birthed, so why spend all the time bashing the dead horse of why/how she was able to get an obviously unethical doctor to help her get in this situation. You're right, the babies are here, the older kids are here, and if we can give billions to banks so that their fat-cat CEOs can have million-dollar golden parachutes, then we ought to be able to pay for diapers, food, and good care for those kids.

Once again, all the media screaming is a distraction.

Solution: Quit watching CNN. I highly advise that as a first step toward better mental health.

  5. I agree. Quit watching TV. I hardly ever watch anymore, but life in general can be enough to put one in a funk. How do we even know this woman is mentally ill? I haven't heard any formal diagnosis on her at all.

  6. I think the fertility doctor who helped to make this mess should be forced to pay child support!!! I mean, he impregnated her, really! That makes him the father doesn't it? He should have known better!

  7. I am not sure why the media has chosen to crucify this woman but I would be curious as to why the Right to Lifers are not stepping up to the plate to support her.
