You've found me, the mom of two small children. A few years ago, I figured out, this late in life, that I am Queer. I am looking to the future with hope and promise. Soon to be divorced, and living on my own with my kids. Life on my own terms at last!

Question #3
What is the greatest thing you can receive this Christmas?
This sounds a little corny, but I think I have already received the greatest gifts I will ever receive. When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was be a mom. I always thought I'd be one of the people to have children early. It just didn't work out for me that way. I lost a baby to a miscarriage in my 20's with my first husband. I went through the grief of that. I spent years, watching my friends have kids, with me being unable to have them, first because I was unable to get pregnant again, then because I divorced and was single. I had a few scares then, always secretly hoping I would get pregnant, as I was in my 30's and starting to feel the clock ticking.
I took more negative pregnancy tests than I care to admit to taking, each one breaking my heart just a bit more. By the time I met hubby, I had all but given up on having kids. I resigned myself to it, and I think I was becoming "OK" with it, but at the same time, we agreed we both wanted kids, and though we wouldn't go to extreme measures to have them, we would do nothing to prevent them either. This went on for over 2 years, each year with me becoming even more resigned to not having children, and trying to be OK with this in my head.
Then one September morning, I started feeling sick to my stomach right before a big camping trip with friends to Yosemite. Hubby said, maybe you are "pregnant", and I sent him down to the store to buy a test, just to be sure before the big weekend of partying that lay ahead. I was sure it would be negative, as they were ALWAYS negative, but this time, damn....I got two lines. Sent hubby back down to the store, and 6 positive tests later, we were jumping up and down because we were so happy. He even started calling family at 6AM to tell them. Then we stopped on our way out of town for the camping trip and I had an actual blood draw done. The nurse called me the next day, in Yosemite, while I was watching Half Dome from our camp site and said I was "officially" pregnant. I'm not sure I've ever been as thrilled since.
So there you have it. I may have done it the hard way, but my kids are the greatest gifts I have or ever will receive. I am thankful every day that my life took the turn that turned me into a mother.
Peace,
OC

I've been tagged....by my good friend...Earth Muffin from the Land of Earth Muffin. I haven't done a meme in quite some time, so here goes nothing...or everything....ha! The best of both worlds. Ms. Earth Muffin said the Meme came with an award. I love getting awards, and since I'm not sure if I was supposed to get the award, I'm going to take it anyway, a girl can't have too many awards, and honestly I have none...so I'm "borrowing" it from Ms. M...and if she happens to need help getting this award on her blog, she knows she can ask me and I'll help her. Tag, Tag, Tag, I'm Not It Anymore!
I've been tagged by Earth Muffin over at The Land of Earth Muffin!
The Rules:Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 weird, random, facts, habits or goals about yourself. At the end, choose 6 people to be tagged, list their names & why you tagged them. Don’t forget to leave them a comment saying “You’re it!” & to go read your blog. You cannot tag the person that tagged you, so since you’re not allowed to tag me back; let me know when you are done so I can go read YOUR weird/random/odd facts, habits and goals.
- I count steps. I don’t do it consciously, but I do it. I’ll be walking along, and I will realize that I am counting, never in order either. 82, 45, 46, 47, 93, 72, so I guess I should say more accurately that I name numbers when I walk. I also count stairs, again, not necessarily in order. I can’t seem to stop myself because I don’t even realize I’m doing it.
- Once in my 20’s I was so obsessed with which way the toilet paper went, I would change it in EVERY bathroom I went into if it was on the wrong way. At my house, it was really bad, because it seemed like every time I went in the bathroom the toilet paper was on the “wrong” way, and I would change it. Finally I got mad and blew up, and my housemates started laughing so hard, they had been playing this trick on me for months. Every time I would turn it around, so would they.
- I was ornery when in my early 20’s. I had this neighbor named Earl. He was about 5 years older than me. He was huge, red hair, mustache, sort of stupid, but very arrogant. Keep in mind, this was before cordless telephones were really available, and caller ID wasn’t even thought of yet. Well Earl would pull his phone out on his porch while he was mowing his lawn. He had one of those big desk phones with the push buttons, and it was tan color. Well I would sit in my living room, and as soon as he got out to the yard, I would call him, and watch him run back to get the phone. As soon as he got there, I would hang up. He’d go back out again, and I’d do it again…over and over, he never in a year figured out it was me, and I would sit in my living room laughing so hard until I peed my pants. Still to this day I feel guilty that I tortured this poor guy so bad.
- When I was a little kid (around 8) I spray painted my neighbors newly painted garage with pictures of houses and trees and stuff, and my dad had to repaint her whole garage.
- I was fired from Pizza Hut being a General Manager, because I refused to fire my old Russian Driver “Emile”. He was slower than anything, but the guy was a hard worker, would come in whenever I needed him etc…but the corporate big shots said he was too slow and wanted me to let him go, when I refused and told them to do it themselves, they fired me instead. I hated that job, so I was so glad to get out of there.
- I used to dress up like Madonna in the 80’s.
- I grew up in Southern California and have only been to San Diego and Disney Land once.
- The very first record I ever bought was “Tonight’s the Night” by Rod Stewart.
- I ditched almost half of my senior year of high school and still graduated on time, I also worked in the attendance office taking phone calls from parents when their kids were out sick, I was really bad about writing notes for all my friends, the only one I couldn’t get off the hook was myself.
- I have about 6 almost brand new bottles of perfume in my medicine cabinet right now, and they are all the good smelling expensive stuff. I have a serious weakness for perfume, but I don’t wear it that much because I know people are allergic.

6 Quirky Things
So the rules are that I link to the person who tagged me (Sterkworks), post the rules, and then write a list of six quirky things about myself. Then, tag six people to do this meme with links to their web logs.
1. I’m going to turn into an Edamame bean. Love Love Love them, can’t seem to get enough lately. And, the fun part is that since I’m in Montana, no one even seems to know what they are, although I’m able to find them everywhere.
2. I have a bright pink bowling ball with my name on it.
3. I once drove my mother crazy singing the theme song to “The Brady Bunch” all the way from California to Wyoming.
4. I’m giving up Diet Coke. (Huge Huge Huge)
5. I can still remember how to make almost every pizza that is on Pizza Hut’s Menu from when I was a Pizza Hut General Manager.
6. I’ve been obsessed with the TV show “I Love Lucy” since I was a kid and could probably repeat the dialog verbatim.
Since I’ve already done this meme, I’m not tagging, but if you feel like revisiting it, go for it!
Peace,
OC

A Sunday Meme for 2007
2007
1) Where did you begin 2007?
It began in my bed the same place where I began 2008. I’m so over staying up until “the new year”, because my kids will wake me up very early in the “new year” I try to go to bed as early as I can in the “old year” to be ready for the “new year”.

Same as it’s been for almost the past decade, married. We went out to dinner and a movie.

4) How do you earn your money?
I work for the government, harrassing people, being mean, being called heartless, being told I’m taking food from someone’s mouth, big bad mean spirited government worker who has more work to do than I could do in two lifetimes, but still I get told by people when I tell them that I work for the government, that “wow, you’ve got a kickback job”...umm..yeah...right....I just get the day off to vote is all.

None this year.
14) Are you registered to vote?
Absofuckinglutely! Registered Democrat, who if I ever thought the Green party could or would win, I’d be there in a second. We need to flush that Bush down the drain.

Ok...I’m not putting my address on here, suffice it to say, I live in MT, I have an acre of land with a house on it, and lots and lots of deer poop in my yard.
16) How did you spend your summer break?
